The Bells Palsy is gone though I live in constant fear that it could happen again. The minute I burn my tongue on something I freak out and wait the day or two for that sensation to go away - since that was the first sign of the BP for me. The only tell-tale sign that I had it is the crease (or lack of crease) from my nose to the corner of my mouth on the right side. When I smile there is no crease on that side but I have one on the other. My brother's girlfriend keeps telling me that people pay a lot of money for botox to make that happen. Snort! No one seems to notice it unless I point it out and even then they don't see it like I do (or they are trying to be polite).

Jane how do you specify day #1 ??
ReplyDelete.. I have Bell's and my face start changing 12 days ago with some distortion around my mouth. I had 2 days of accute ear pain (so roughly 14 days ago ). I think I have plateaued but haven't seen any improvements yet.
Looking at your blog you start from day 17 .
How do you determine that, what were the symptoms on day one ?
I continue to be tired till now with a sore left face.
You have a great blog keep up the good work
Thanks
SG
I also had Bell's Palsy that began with what I thought was an earache. Two weeks to the day the earache came about the Bell's symptoms struck! Complete paralysis on the left side of my face. I didn't wear an eye patch at first and almost scarred my cornea - I recommend an eye patch ASAP. My symptoms were basically gone within 6 weeks. I slept a lot - it was just easier than messing with my eye. I believe all that rest helped things along quickly.
DeleteThank you for this, I am on day 3 of BP. I too felt the numb tongue the day before onset. I also had a slight headache. I really just didn't feel well, when I woke up in the morning, I notice something wasn't quite right with the right side of my face. It's been challenging and scary. I worry about worst case scenario but I'm trying not too. I think stress is what got me here in the first place. I am going to a chinese acupuncture clinic on monday and I am hopeful that I can find a natural remedy for this on top of the meds the doc gave me. Take care!
